Lucas’ Papaw Remedies is recalling several batches of Lucas’ Papaw Ointment due to contamination. Read below to see if you’ve purchased an affected batch.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) said microbial contamination was found in batches of Lucas’ Papaw Ointment, a topical ointment sold at chemists and supermarkets to assist with minor skin wounds, dryness and chafing.
The microorganisms identified include: Aspergillus tubingensis, Sordaria humana, Penicillium paneum and Paenibacillus glucanolyticus.
“These moulds and bacteria pose minimal risk to the general population. There is a remote risk that individuals who are immunocompromised could become ill if they are exposed to these organisms,” the TGA said.
