Looking to treat your pup to an Advent calendar this year, but not wanting to fork out $30 for one from a pet shop. Luckily, savvy pet owner, Simone Douglas has made her own DIY calendar using a $6 compartment box from Kmart.
“After visiting a few pet shops, I saw that they were charging over $30 for Advent calendars. They were quite pricey, and I wasn’t sure if the ingredients in the treats would be suitable for our pup, so I made her this one with a $6 Compartment box.”
Using a Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine, Simone made her own gold number stickers for each day of the month leading up to Christmas and stuck them onto the 24 Compartment Storage Box she bought from Kmart for $6.
But if you don’t have a label machine, the number stickers can be purchased from Kmart, Spotlight or any arts and crafts store.
“All up, it took me about 10 minutes to stick the stickers on and to fill the calendar using treats we already had for our schnauzer, Evie.
The $6 pet Advent calendar hack caused a stir on Facebook, with over 2,300 likes and nearly 1,000 comments.
One user exclaimed, “What a great idea! All the ones at the pet shops have things in them that I know my boy definitely won’t eat going to do this for him “
