Best supermarket Christmas mince pie
Consumer advocacy organisation CHOICE has taken on the challenge of taste-testing supermarket mince pies, so you don’t have to. (You definitely still can if you want to).
In an article published on their website, CHOICE says, “Staff were asked to taste each fruit mince pie, then vote for their favourite. This was a blind taste test, meaning no one knew which pie.
“CHOICErs take their taste testing responsibilities very seriously, so everyone weighed the options carefully before casting their votes.”
ALDI’s Kringle & Co fruit mince pies
This year, CHOICE has announced that ALDI Australia has the BEST fruit mince pies for Christmas this year!
That’s right, ALDI’s Kringle & Co fruit mince pies (6pk/$2.69) won the top prize for Best Supermarket Fruit Mince Pie.
While ALDI’s Kringle & Co fruit mince pies got 44% of the votes for taste, they’re a winner for value (45 cents per pie) too!
Woolworths Shortcrust Fruit Mince Pies
Coming in second place with 40% of the votes was Woolworths with their Woolworths Shortcrust Fruit Mince Pies.
According to the packaging, the Woolworths fruit mince pies are, “Buttery shortcrust pastry packed with vine fruits, aromatic spices & infused with rum and brandy.”
At the end of the day, a fruit mince pie is a very personal choice. It doesn’t matter which fruit mince pie you choose, just as long as you do choose one!
We’re sure they’ll all hit the spot come Christmas day.
